Our Trek will be held June 4 - June 7, 2014

It is for all youth ages 14-18, (age 14 by September 1, 2014 or in 8th grade during the 2013-2014 Calendar School Year) that live within the Surprise Stake boundaries.

Much planning and preparation has gone into trek. A committee of the Stake’s finest has been working very hard to make this trek the best possible experience for our youth. It is much more than just dressing up like pioneers and pushing handcarts. If our youth prepare correctly, it is an epic life-changing testimony-building experience that will impact them for the rest of their lives. The key events along the trek route are designed to help the youth physically, spiritually, and emotionally experience some of what the early Saints went through while using the Learn-Act-Share model. The ultimate goal is not simply to finish but to literally facilitate the conversion of each of our trek youth to the Gospel and help them “Come Unto” Our Savior Jesus Christ.

The theme we have chosen is:

“I can do all things through CHRIST which strengtheneth ME” – Philippians 4:13

Our key objectives for each trekker are the following:

1.     A burning testimony of the true power of the Savior's Atonement to conquer life's greatest obstacles such as sin, sorrow, infirmity, and even death.
2.     A clearer vision of their endless potential to accomplish challenging things and become their greatest selves through faith, obedience, hard work, and the Savior’s added strength.
3.     A deeper understanding, appreciation, and reverence for the experience of their pioneer forbearers as they “walk in their shoes”.
4.     A profound feeling of gratitude and love for their families at home and how they can do more to help ensure their eternal inheritance.
5.     A ton of fun creating memorable experiences interacting with new friends and youth leaders!

YOUTH:

You do not want to miss out on this once in a lifetime adventure. We love you and can’t wait to see you on trek!!!
